Musical Tours - World Museum Vienna

Vienna, too, has hidden Japanese treasures to offer. In the East Asia exhibition of the Weltmuseum Wien, visitors can admire not only Noh drums, Gigaku masks, and tea sets, but during the Shirabe Festival season 2026 also instruments, costumes, and stories of Gagaku, Japan’s oldest musical tradition and a UNESCO World Heritage.

In five musical museum tours, we will let the instruments sound, share stories about Japan’s music, rituals, and mysticism, and invite visitors to join in and try on costumes in participatory segments.
